Working with children and teenagers is my passion. I enjoy helping kids who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, stress, bullying, self-esteem, grief/loss, and anger. By using approaches such as CBT, I aim to help children and teenagers become aware of their negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and change them into positive ones. Together, by developing healthy coping strategies, children and parents will learn to work through negative emotions and experiences and feel more empowered to cope with everything life has to throw at them.
Being a Punjabi therapist, I am truly passionate about providing therapy services to clients from culturally diverse backgrounds. Through validation and empowerment, I strive to help my clients gain the confidence they need to be the best version of themselves.
I also provide support to adults struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and grief/loss. My aim is to create a therapeutic alliance with the client by displaying empathy and warmth, while ensuring the client is feeling understood and validated. Together, we will identify their strengths and learn new ways to help them cope and succeed in life.

Do you remember a time when your mind wasn’t running in circles with constant worries or when you didn’t feel weighed down by “what ifs” and overwhelm? Are you struggling to parent a child with anxiety and knowing how to help support them? Parenting and dealing with anxious thoughts yourself, or navigating big life transitions can feel exhausting and lonely. Do you wish you had the tools to move through these challenges with more ease and confidence?
I’m here to walk alongside you and support you on this journey.
I’m Angie, a Doctoral Counselling Intern, and I work with kids, teens, adults, and families who want to find calm, clarity, and connection in their lives. Whether it’s helping a child feel less anxious and teaching them how to better manage their emotions, supporting a parent to respond with confidence to their struggling child, or guiding someone through grief, change, or cultural transitions, my focus is on helping you feel understood and equipped.
Together, we’ll look at what’s really driving your struggles: anxious thoughts, family stress, or the uncertainty of change. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we will work together to find tools that fit you and tailor every step to your needs. Along the way, you’ll build skills to manage anxiety, unhelpful thoughts, strengthen communication, and handle challenges with more confidence and compassion.

I am a registered psychologist in Ontario in Clinical, Counselling, and School Psychology. I am qualified to practice with children, adolescents and adults. I have extensive experience providing psychotherapy and psychoeducational assessments to children, adolescent, and adult populations.
EDUCATION
I earned an Honours Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. Then, I completed my Masters of Science in Counselling Psychology from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Finally, I earned my Ph.D. degree in Counselling Psychology from McGill University.
EXPERIENCE
I began acquiring my extensive experiencing in counselling early in my career. Shortly after graduating from the University of Toronto, I worked for three years in the United States in an inpatient setting counselling adolescent girls (both individually and in groups) and their families. I dealt with many issues including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), family and school problems, trauma, substance abuse, and low self-esteem. Then, I received training in family and group therapy with adolescents, as well as counselling children with developmental disabilities. From my Ph.D. and beyond, I provided psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults in a variety of settings including university counselling centres (i.e., McGill University and Virginia Commonwealth University) and private therapy centres. I routinely worked with both adults and children facing difficulties with depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship turmoil, life transitions, trauma, and family problems. I also provided psychoeducational assessments to children and adolescents in a school for children with developmental disabilities and a private counselling centre.
After completing my Ph.D., I was offered a post-doctoral clinical training opportunity at the University Counselling Centre at Virginia Commonwealth University. Instead, I returned home to Toronto and acquired more experience counselling university students at the University of Toronto, as well as providing outreach and professional development presentations. I conducted psychoeducational and psychovocational assessments for children, adolescents and adults at JVS Toronto, a United Way Agency. Currently, I am a working as a school psychologist at the Peel District School Board, where I provide consultation, professional development, and psychoeducational assessments.
As such, I have received much training and practice in many psychotherapy techniques, and I am committed to providing a systemic and multiculturally competent approach to quality psychotherapy and assessment.

I take an integrative approach right from the start. I explore well-being from multiple angles: biological, psychological, social, and spiritual (if applicable). I use this information along with the effects of familial, social, cultural, and societal systems on a person or couple (i.e., Systems Theory), to gain a holistic understanding of the client and their needs. In every session I take a stance of curiosity and often utilize Narrative Therapy, which advocates for a respectful, non-blaming approach to therapy that centres people as the experts in their own lives. From time to time, I use a combination of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and/or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques to challenge and create momentum towards lasting change. An individualized treatment plan is then created and modified as therapy continues to ensure goals are achieved.
